DESCRIPTION
DECK-O-SEAL ONE STEP is a single-component,
non-sag, elastomeric, polysulfide-based sealing
compound used for caulking joints in structures that
are subject to movement caused by temperature
changes. ONE STEP resists the effects of oil and
gasoline when spills are wiped up immediately.
USES
DECK-O-SEAL ONE STEP is ideal for glazing
operations and sealing all joints in concrete structures.
It bonds well to concrete, masonry, glass, metal and
wood. It is ideally suited for application wherever a
permanent watertight seal or expansion joint is
required. NOTE: Do not apply paint over surfaces
sealed with DECK-O-SEAL products.
ONE STEP is frequently used in high sloping and vertical expansion joints where a non-sag, watertight, elastomeric sealant is required. ONE STEP is ideal for use in swimming pools above the waterline, where the tile meets the pool coping. For joints that will be submerged under water, use DECK-O-SEAL 125 for horizontal applications or DECK-O-SEAL GUN GRADE for high sloped or vertical applications. All joints submerged under water must be primed with P/G PRIMER from W. R. MEADOWS.

APPLICATION
Follow these instructions carefully for maximum effectiveness. BE SURE TO WEAR
PROTECTIVE SAFETY GLASSES AND CHEMICAL-RESISTANT GLOVES.
Surface Preparation …Remove foreign substances, incompressibles and free water from joint opening. For proper adhesion, joints must be clean and dry. Dust, dirt and laitance should be removed prior to application. Concrete should be completely cured and free from all foreign materials and contamination from curing agents. (Industry accepted standard for curing concrete is 28 days.) To maintain cleanliness around the joint to be sealed, apply masking tape 2" wide to the surfaces adjoining both sides of the joint before ONE STEP is applied … be sure to remove masking tape before the sealant starts to set.
Priming … ONE STEP adheres well to unprimed concrete; however, P/G PRIMER is recommended for optimum adhesion.
Joint Sizes … Proper joint design practices and application techniques must be followed for successful performance. DECK-O-FOAM® or KOOL-ROD™ from W. R. MEADOWS may be used as a joint backing material to control sealant depth and provide joint configuration. A 2:1 width-to-depth ratio should be maintained. However, in no case should joint sealant depth be less than 1/4" or exceed 1/2". ONE STEP should NOT be used in joints less than 1/4" (6.35 mm) wide and is NOT recommended for use in joints over 1” in width.
Application Method ONE STEP may be applied by manual or air-operated caulking guns, putty knife or trowel. Under normal conditions (70° F and 50% relative humidity), ONE STEP will form a skin on the sealant in approximately eight hours. The time required for complete curing of the sealant depends on the size of the joint, temperature and humidity. High temperatures and high humidity promote rapid curing. Conversely, low temperatures and low humidity will result in a longer time required to develop the optimum qualities of the sealant.
Cleanup … Application equipment should be cleaned promptly with xylene or toluene.
PRODUCT MAINTENANCE
Damaged sections of original sealant can be removed and resealed with ONE STEP.
Joints must be cleaned if contaminated.
PRECAUTIONS
ONE STEP is not recommended for horizontal joints where immediate foot or wheel
traffic is anticipated prior to the full curing of the sealant. It is not compatible
with asphalt and cannot be used in asphalt concrete pavement or with asphalt-impregnated
expansion joint fillers. Do not use ONE STEP under water. NOTE: Do not apply
paint over surfaces sealed with DECK-O-SEAL products. On commercial projects where faster
cure time is needed, we recommend DECK-O-SEAL
GUN GRADE two-part sealant. Please see
data sheet on GUN GRADE for further details.
HEALTH HAZARDS
